South Pacific Bible College

(Students and a work team add improvements to this Pastor training school in Fiji)

Students at South Pacific Bible College learn more than just academics! Missionaries Spain and Bettye Trask reported that because of the crowded conditions on campus, there was a critical need to enlarge some classrooms before the new school year began in late January 2005.

A MAPS construction team from the Northern California/ Nevada District, headed by Stan and Julie Wagner has made several trips to the campus. Each time they come, students at the college assist their work. The students have learned much and they felt they could take on this project.

The senior class of 2004 had raised money they wanted to invest in the campus and it was enough to pay for the materials for the new foundation of the classroom addition. They not only gave their money but also their labor. Some of the students stayed on even after graduation to continue the work on the project.

We built the classrooms with concrete blocks and they will last for many years. The classrooms will now hold up to 50 students. Three of the large classrooms are now available with two other rooms available for smaller groups.

The students also took on the work needed to enlarge the cafeteria. Interior walls were knocked down, the floor was leveled, a new serving area was prepared, and the bakery was relocated. Space is now available to serve all the students at one time. Cooking is still done on open fires in the cooking shed.

When construction teams come to help at the campus, they bring skilled workers and necessary money to help. The training they give to the students will help them to build new churches, parsonages, and schools when they go from the Bible College. This is truly an investment in eternity.
